course5-16-beat rhythm#1 [acoustic guitar lesson for beginner]
16-beat rhythm
Creating a 16-beat rhythm is not that different from creating the 8-beat rhythm in 4/4.
The 8-beat rhythm has a basic one consisting of 8 strokes based on an eighth note.
and the 16-beat will also have 16 strokes based on a sixteenth note.
If you look into the rhythm given as your home assignment, a beat was divided into one eighth note and two sixteenth notes.
One eighth note equals to two sixteenth notes combined by a tie.
So the stroke will be as above.
You can play it in this way
This rhythm is the most popular one among 16-beat rhythms.
Today we will combine this rhythm with calypso rhythm that we have learned during the last coures by dividing it into sixteenth notes.
Let's draw the strokes for this rhythm.
This rhythm is frequently used in 16-beat rhythm patterns and therefore you need to master it.
The representative rhythm is usually described in an actual score just like this.
However, not all the scores describe their rhythms in this way.
That's the reason that I spare so much time to let you understand how to create 8-beat and 16-beat rhythms.
If a score does not describe its rhythm,
-you need to create an 8-beat rhythm for songs with up tempo and a 16-beat rhythm for songs with medium tempo slower in general and,
-you need to creat the rhythm using a tie after preparing a score at the beginning.
Today's practice chord progression
Many of the geate songs were created based on the chord progressions that appear in two songs that we will learn today.
You need to remember them!!!
You can play it to the original key by placing the capo on the second fret.
When the key does not match with your singing tone, increase or reduce the key by moving the capo.
For the rhythm,
if you can keep the accent, your playing will be richer but first you need to focus on mastering the rhythm.
For the chore progression,
the above 4 bars repeat to the end.
New chord
G (you can hold this chord in various forms, use the form that fits you best)
Am
C

Today's practicing video
Set up your target so that you can play like this.
In particular, the chord progression of 1-5-6-4 in "You & I" is called "Money Chord" and widely used in pop songs worldwide. The chord progression in the following video is this Money Chord.
We are not getting to the end of the 16-beat rhythm learning.
Two rhythms that we learned today and another rhythm that we will learn in the next week will form the most powerful set of 16-beat rhythms. You can play most of the songs with medium tempo or slower by combining these three rhythms. Until the next week, keep practicing so that can play those two rhythms comfortably!!
You can practice "How Dare You" by Sistar based on the chord progression of G-D-Em-C without the capo.
The song is relatively up tempo and therefore practice it with calypso rhythm in 8-beat.
Today is the end of the lesson for the past 4 weeks.
This 4-week lesson was for the rhythms which are the most crucial part in guitar playing.
We focused on the 8-beat and 16-beat rhythms among others that are most frequently used.
Rhythms that we will learn for the next week will be just the ones added by three sixteenth notes.
So it means that the less for the most important concepts in guitar playing was ended by today's course.
The remaining items will be the concept of a triplet and consequent rhythms of shuffle, swing and other ones and the next lesson will focus on the techniques that makes your playing more colorful and groovy.
So please keep practicing so that you can be fully familiar with what you have learned to this course 5.
If you can comfortably play what you have learned so far, your guitar will sound much better compared to when you began to learn it.
If you want to be a master for guitar, you need to repeat the same thing that you learned over and over.
You can improve your skills just like you're stepping up the stair.
Your skills are not improved just like the diagonal line on a graph.
You will experience that you can play what was not possible suddenly at some moment after repeated practices day by day. However, you need to keep practicing day by day in order to achieve it.
So please do not give up because you cannot do it today. Get in the habit of repeated practicing day by day and you will surely achieve good results.
