Chord diagram
When you see scores designed specifically for guitar,
You will see a score with the above description.
We use chord diagrams with horizontal descriptions on this blog as follows:
Those two diagrams may seem similar but the E chord score is a description illustrating the neck of a guitar laid aside.
In this description, you can consider that the head located on the left.
The above E chord indicates a barre chord and therefore does not have a thick line on the left but it has indications of frets at the bottom.
Unlike this one, the above G chord indication illustrates the neck of a guitar standing up.
So you can consider that the head is located at the top.
It has a thick line on the left.
The line indicates the nut of the guitar.
So you can simply consider that the thick indicates the neck part.
Description of the palm mute
The palm mute is described as P.M. and a series of the palm mutes is described as a dotted line or a straight line.
The above score means that you need to play the 3 harmonies with the palm mute.
Chord progression
The chord progression with repetiton of 4 chords.
The tab score indicates the G chord with its second type but you play practice it with the form that you feel comfortable.
The higher strings appearing after the palm mute is played are described in 3 lines but you would focus on playing the higher strings excluding the lower strings rather than focusing on playing the 3 lines correctly.
When the chord progression goes with G-D-Em, it is popular to play it with a slash chord with a root F# on the D chord.
The chord progression of G-D/F#-Em connects the bass line smoothly.
For F#, press F# while holding the D chord.
