What is a bass run?
A bass run refers to a technique to put a passing tone between chords when connecting them.
It is usually used when connecting two roots.
Please take a look at the following score.
You put the G note just before the tarnsit from Em to Am. Because of this note, the connection of the bass line can be smooth in E-G-A. Such connection of the chords by putting a passing tone in between is called a bass run. It is simple but very effective and was a very popular technique in old folk songs.
Root - it's a simultaneous playing of 3 lines and the above rhythm is everything for the song.
For rest of the song, you need to play whole tones once as comfortable as possible.
