Course 24 Left hand mute and cutting

Muting on open chords

As open chords include open strings, it may be difficult for you to mute them.
The know-how for this is open your left hand and place it on the string lightly to mute it.
Chords such as G and Em include many open strings and therefore you need to take sufficient time to practice them.

The video shows the left hand muting only but practically it would be better for you to use your right hand together to mute an open chord.

Muting on a barre chord

As you always place your forefinger on a string while holding a barre chord, it would be easier for you to mute the barre chord.
The know-how is to relax and place your left hand on a string.

The left hand muting is described as "X" on a score.

Chord progression

The chord progression is played with repetition of G-B-C-Cm and the line is created by adding a sus4 chord to major ones.
The above chord diagram is the one with the head on the top.

Let's watch the video to see who the song is played.
