What is a high chord (barre chord)?
What we usually call a high chord has its formal name of barre chord.
Barre (bar): the term came from the shape of a bar and it was named a barre (bar) chord as you need to spread your forefinger just like a bar to hold that chord.
F chord is the representative barre chord that you will learn first.
It is the chord that makes many of those trying to learn guitar give up while learning it.
You need to hold this chord as follows:
The forefinger is pressing all the strings.
Put your thumb on the middle of the neck when holding a barre chord.
In fact, it is very hard to make a correct sound with this position.
So you may practice the chord with a simplified positon.
Press the first and the second strings with the forefinger.
As you don't press the sixth string, do not touch it while stroking.
If you become familiar with this position for your practice, you can then practice it with the formal position.
First, remember the position with the figure.
The principle of this chord will be explained in detail with the basic theory in later courses.
The chord progression will be C G / Dm7 / C G / F
Dm7
The chord Dm7 is similar to F.
Press the first and the second strings with the forefinger.
